LASG seeks committed civil servants

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, says the present administration will continue to create conducive environment for civil servants in the state to reach the peak of their careers.
She said by doing so, the state would continue to move from heights to greater heights because it is being served by workers who are committed.
The deputy governor stated this on Wednesday at Alausa, Ikeja, during the presentation of long service awards as parts of activities lined up to mark this year’s Public Service Week, which started on Monday.
No fewer than public servants, who have served the state for a minimum period of 30 years, were honoured at the event.
Orelope-Adefulire said, “It is only by selfless and devotion to service that we can stand any chance of taking our dear state to greater heights. Your dedication to duty over the years has laid the foundation for the future we are striving to create for the citizens of the state.
“Government will continue to create a conducive environment for public servants to reach the peak of their careers. Government is also committed to ensuring decent treatment of civil servants who had served the state diligently.”
The deputy governor urged civil servants to continue to uphold the ethics and values of the service.
She said, “Despite the achievements already recorded, I must emphasise that there is still work to be done.
“This ceremony is an opportunity to appreciate the awardees who had spent greater part of their productive lives in serving the citizens of the state.”
She added that the honour was not a signal that they could rest on their oars, urging them to continue to display a high sense of responsibility and great commitment to duty.
Head of Service, Adesegun Ogunlewe, said the award was meant for civil servants who had served the state for a minimum of 30 years, stressing that since 2006 when the Long Service Award was instituted, 2,831 public servants had benefited.
